Max Blumenthal is an award-winning journalist and bestselling author whose articles and video documentaries have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Daily Beast, The Nation, The Guardian, The Independent Film Channel, The Huffington Post, Salon.com, Al Jazeera English and many other publications. His second book, Goliath: Life and Loathing in Greater Israel, is a travel narrative and startling portrait of an Israeli society as increasingly authoritarian and entrenched in injustice as the occupation of Palestinian lands continues unabated. His 2009 book, Republican Gomorrah: Inside The Movement That Shattered The Party, is a New York Times and Los Angeles Times bestseller (the NYT boycotted Goliath, because of their zionist stance). His most recent book is 51 Day War, Ruin & Resistance in Gaza in which he travels to Gaza (along with two other Jewish journalists) to interview the victims of Israel, just a few days after Israel’s brutal slaughter of civilians ended in 2014.

Tarek Abuata, director of Sabeel USA. Born into a Palestinian Christian family in Bethlehem, Palestine, Tarek moved to Texas during the first Palestinian Intifada when he was 12 years old. His most recent position was Executive Director at Palestinian Christian Alliance for Peace (PCAP), a DC- based organization working among U.S. faith-based communities for justice in Palestine.  He has also served as Executive Director at Love Thy Neighbor, a DC-based organization which provided nonviolence trainings in Palestine. Additionally, Tarek worked with Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT), coordinating their Palestine/Israel on the ground team for eight years, the United Palestine Appeal, directing programs and development, and the Negotiations Support Unit of the Palestinian Authority, researching legal and policy issues.  Tarek holds a JD from the University of Texas Law School and is licensed to practice law in Texas and DC.

In light of the commemoration of the Nakba (catastrophe) May 15 and the Naksa (setback)June 5, please join us and bring some friends/family with you for this documentary and discussion, seeing what kind of restorative justice might be possible.
